Danzig (USA) - Strategic Maneuver (USA) (Crypto Clearance)
Ishiguru was very sadly put down in September 2009 following complications arising from a knee injury.
It was a tragic loss for all of us. He had a wonderful temperament, and after a tremendous amount of hard work his progeny were beginning to establish results that made him such an asset to mare owners. His 2009 yearling crop is the best he has produced, both here and in New Zealand.
A son of champion sire Danzig and the dual Grade 1-winning mare Strategic Maneuver, Ishiguru was both regally bred and good looking having realised $1.15m as a yearling. He soon rewarded our faith by siring Hellvelyn, winner of Royal Ascot’s Coventry Stakes (Gr.2).
Yet Ishiguru’s greatest asset seemed to be in producing tough, sound horses who improved with age. His five-year-old son Ferneley won the Del Mar Handicap (Gr.2) and was second in the Woodbine Mile (Gr.1) in 2009 having previously won a Gr.3 in Ireland, while She’s Our Mark won and was placed in numerous Group and Listed races.
