Radiohead On Right Wavelength In Us

1st March 2010

The Tweenhills bred and raised, RADIOHEAD, made an impressive debut for new trainer Rick Dutrow in Florida at the weekend.

The Norfolk Stakes (Gr.2) winner at Royal Ascot, took a 1m allowance race on the dirt at Gulfstream Park by three and half lengths. In doing so, he beat his stable companion Homeboykris, a Grade 1 winner last season.

When trained in the UK by Brian Meehan, Radiohead also finished second in the Shadwell Middle Park Stakes (Gr.1) and was third in the Nunthorpe Stakes (Gr.1) at York.

This colt was bred at Tweenhills by Redmyre Bloodstock and Stephen Hillen out of their mare Security Interest, whom Stephen purchased for Tweenhills for just $20,000 with Radiohead in-utero. Radiohead subsequently provided an instant profit for the partnership as he was sold at Goffs as a foal for €130,000.

Ripples To Sea The Stars

22nd February 2010

The owners of Ripples Maid were delighted to have their Dansili mare accepted into See The Star’s first book. She is proving a star all round for the Tweenhills’ EIS syndicate Redland Bloodstock since her purchase from the July Sales in 2009, with her foal at foot subsequently realising 75,000gns in December.

In addition, Redland Bloodstock welcomed their first foal recently, a cracking Royal Applause colt out of Persian Sea. He is closely related to the dual US Gr.2 winner and Breeders' Cup Mile third, Whatsthescript, also by Royal Applause.

Trade Fair To Remain In Australia

14th January 2010

TRADE FAIR, who has stood for the past four years at Tweenhills has been sold to remain in Australia, where he has been shuttling for the Southern Hemisphere season and his first crop have made a big impression.

The son of Zafonic is also responsible for the 2010 European Classic prospect FAIR TRADE, trained by David Elsworth, but his Northern Hemisphere shareholders have decided to accept an offer to sell him to Ted Van Heemst’s Lynward Park Stud in Western Australia.

Trade Fair was sold in a deal handled by David Redvers Bloodstock and John Chalmers Bloodstock.

David Redvers commented: “Although I am very sorry that Trade Fair is not returning this season, we have managed to secure an excellent deal for his Northern Hemisphere shareholders and we also have an agreement from the new owners that we can lease the horse back next year should there be a demand for his services.

“He has made a bright start in Western Australia with his first runners and ABSOLUTE PLEASURE, who won first time out at Ascot, Perth, looks an exciting prospect. However, although he has had plenty of winners here and has the hugely promising David Elsworth-trained runner, Fair Trade, to look forward to, he failed to produce a stakes winner with his first two-year-old crop and that was going to make promoting him very difficult this season. At the end of the day, we were made an excellent offer and it was in his shareholders’ best interests to accept.”

Tweenhills Farm and Stud is home to two highly-promising young stallions in 2010 in LUCKY STORY, sire of the Group 1 winner Art Connoisseur, and SLEEPING INDIAN, whose well-received first crop of two-year-olds will run this season.

Trade Fair will shortly return to Tweenhills from Evergreen Lodge in West Australia, where he has been standing his Southern Hemisphere season for the last few years.
